Needless to say, I’m having them do full-time remote learning. Also, I teach special ed in public school. Kids will not be wearing masks because either they don’t understand about wearing them and/or sensory issues. Staff r planning to wear masks, face shields & gloves all day in addition, there will be disposable body covers for when we r helping w ADL skills like toileting. I’m so stressed. Acrylic was more than likely supplied by the district.

Since it’s for health the district has to make sure it’s all the same. I don’t think that comment was about the shielding. It was about the cost and time of dressing up the desks so it would be a better experience for the children. The school mandates the shielding, and the teacher throws in the extras. I believe that formula is pretty common. Those ‘extras’ take a lot out of your salary if you even slightly give an about the kids you’re teaching.
