Bernie Mac died at 50 and I still feel it. He felt like my old black grandpa if I were to have one. Way too young in this day. Now that I look at it, what’s with black comedians dying in their 50s? Has any other black A list comedian but Cosby made it to 80? I learned that somehow, 5’2 Prince actually was on his high school basketball team, so that cat probably really could ball. At first, you see Dave Chapelle’s Prince impression and you think it’s over the top for comedic effect. That movie is such a trip. Saw it in the theatre when it came out. So over the top with some horrifyingly bad broody moments and scenes that you just can’t help love. Mixed with some great on stage stuff.
