Despite all of the Run Rabbit Run Shirt work, it’s been a great way to rework the education model and we’ve been doing this so that teachers, students, and parents are safe. If we do this right, I’ll have all my lessons in the future recorded and accessible any time online. I wish my school could go virtual, but our governor has threatened to pull all funding from public schools if they don’t go back full time, face to face. And of course, sports are in full swing – the football team was practicing as I left my classroom. My fear is that parents are going to keep their children home from school for obvious safety reasons.

And the Run Rabbit Run Shirt school is going to call the cops on the parents for Truancy. The parents shouldn’t be punished for keeping their own kids safe. I’m sure the ones keeping them home will be doing some sort of homeschooling. That’s what I’d do if mine were still little. They kept referencing some new policy standards Illinois has but I wasn’t familiar with it and having a difficult time finding that obscure guideline. Board of education website still says 6 ft. Meanwhile, our school district is switching to a 3-ft social distance standard with no dividers. We’ll be keeping our kid home.
