My 15-year-old Border Collie just passed away the day before this last Thanksgiving. It was bittersweet, I had been preparing myself for it for the last couple of years and my family made sure she got all the love and attention she needed. She was an amazingly loving dog. Her last day wasn’t bad. She went for her walk in the woods, ran around, and even jumped around the place with the last of her puppy energy. Count yourself lucky that you have the privilege of seeing her age and caring for her. We lost our guy fairly suddenly at 10 to hemangiosarcoma. I’d give anything to see his salt and pepper mustache grow across his face and take him in some slow walks. Enjoy every moment you have for whatnot is! We don’t deserve dogs. They are talking human years. And the whole dog years thing is mostly a joke, there isn’t much truth to it. All different dog breeds have different life expectancies depending on a multitude of factors. Some only live to be 8-10 years old, like Great Danes for example. Others can live up to 20 years. It just depends. I have a mastiff, & they have a similar life expectancy. I would never have chosen a Pride Baby Yoda Hug Hippie Sunflower Shirt large dog, for that reason, but I found him after he’d been dumped in my local park at only 6 months old, filthy & terrified of the world. I fell in love, & that was that. Keeping him was the best decision I ever made.

Detail about my baby with anyone besides family. He passed this last October due to a severe heart condition that got the best of him after a couple of years from the diagnosis. He stayed strong till the end and I miss him like mad every day. I’m so sorry for your loss. Each day will get easier bit by bit, but their love will stay like they never left. Our yellow lab was 13 too. I passed on Wednesday this week. Sucked because I wanted to take her running through the Pride Baby Yoda Hug Hippie Sunflower Shirt pasture and the pond when she tripped and fell last week.
