Thanks for the feedback! I would probably opt for snorkeling when I get to go to Iceland. I am used to wrecking dives, corals, sharks, and huge schools of fish, even caves (I lived in the Philippines). I’m probably not going to enjoy this as much if I can just snorkel/free dive since water is clear and there’s no marine life to explore.DM here. I’d recommend being certified and comfortable in a Dry Suit by the time you get there. The last thing you want to do is be an I’d Rather Be Scuba Diving Vintage Retro Shirt task loaded with new equipment, and a new set of procedures rather than enjoying the dive. If you haven’t done much cold water diving (especially in a dry suit), it takes a bit of getting used to compared to warm water. Not sure it’d be worth the extra hassle. I snorkeled here and shared transport with other people who scuba dived. Because visibility in the Silfra is so clear (and there’s almost no sea life), there wasn’t much difference between scuba and snorkeling. People who chose to dive were disappointed with the extra cost/time.

As another commenter said, it was something like $200 to snorkel and $500 to dive, plus the extra hassle of needing the dry suit certification. Since visibility was so clear for snorkelers, there wasn’t much benefit to diving in relation to the inconvenience and added cost. Roatan has a bit pricier stuff. Older crowd. More the want to stay in a nice place have a drink by the pool crowd. Diving was great and the dive shops are brilliant. Very professional with great folks. They thrive off the repeat customer. Versus Utila where you were more disposable as a, I’d Rather Be Scuba Diving Vintage Retro Shirt client. Bali water is beautiful. But the more you go outside Java/Bali, the more untouched nature is. Also, the harder/expensive to get there. Manta Ray Season is in October. You can find them almost anywhere in Indonesia around that month. Pulau Weh and Padang in Sumatra are also worth checking out and much cheaper than RA.

Thanks for the quick response, that’s great and definitely doable. Was meant to be going for the full moon and 2 of the guys 30ths but guess we will go for their 31st! Hoping though that as I can’t take holidays work will give me an extended break next year so I can do a solo scuba diving course there. Utila, Honduras was amazing! The actual things you see in the water can probably be beaten by many spots in Asia, but the atmosphere in Utila is incredible! Just loads of backpackers chilling out on an I’d Rather Be Scuba Diving Vintage Retro Shirt lovely island with good nightlife, really great food, and lots of people socializing. Locals were very nice and it feels really safe. There are also stunning snorkel spots! I genuinely never wanted to leave. Snorkeling with wild dolphins on our way to a dive spot was unforgettable, to be honest. I second the diving in Oman is great. It is well worth venturing inland as well as it’s hard to find areas that aren’t breathtaking. Oman has a nice balance of being very open to visitors but also not overcrowded. Most locals speak good English and are very friendly. Also if you like sea turtles there are several places you can see both egg-laying and hatching on the same night.
