OP, I normally am not really a Witch Assuming I’m Just An Old Lady Was Your First Mistake Shirt fan of having anyone other than family in a doctor’s office (may just be a “me” thing, as I’m very concerned about privacy) but if you can, I would really consider asking a friend to come along instead of your mother. There are also patient advocates who are amazing at what they do. Think of a doula, but not for childbirth. They fight for you and they make sure that what you want is what happens. Not what other people’s selfish desires want.
